Leisurely Walking

Status:Active, open to new members
Group email: Leisurely Walking group
When: On Tuesday mornings
4th Tuesday

The Leisure walks have proved successful, and meet at 10.00 am on the fourth Tuesday of every month (not December). Our co-ordinator is Tony Banham who organises walks of up to 4 miles for those prepared to walk at a leisurely, sociable pace to look at the scenery, take photographs etc, with a max of 1 hill and a few stiles. There is often a stop for refreshments at a cafe where possible.

The group is reliant on members leading the walks. If you would like to lead a walk contact Tony on a.banham@btopenworld.com

Please let Tony know if you would like to join our mailing list for details of the walks to be sent to you monthly, and email him if you would like to come on the walk. Please bring your ICE cards with you.

Back in October 2025 the walk was led by Peter Hetherington. We met at Lewknor near the Leathern Bottle and parked on the left side of the village past the pub. We walked to Aston Rowant nature reserve for about 4 miles. There was only one hill, and fortunately, no stiles.

Some beautiful Autumnal views from our path through a lesser known part of the Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve at the base of Bald Hill. Sixteen of us enjoyed the sunshine before some of us took some well earned refreshment at the Leathern Bottle.

The September Walk was on Tuesday 23rd and was led by Pat Tucker. We met at the NT car park near Hughenden Manor HP14 4LA. The walk was 3.25 miles, flat with no stiles. Coffee was at Hughenden Manor coffee shop.

The August walk on Tuesday 26th August was led by Peter Gibbons. We met at Kingston Blount Village Hall and walked over to Aston Rowant. 3.5 miles, all flat, no stiles.

July

On Tuesday 22nd July we were led by Tony Clark. We parked in the area just off the main Chinnor - Princes Risborough road and walked along the Phoenix Trail. It was a figure of eight 3.5 - 4 mile flat walk to Horsenden and Saunderton church.

Peter Hetherington led the previous walk on Tuesday 27th May - Cookham.
