We like to ask ……
- Do you enjoy 'walking & talking'?
- Are you seeking an opportunity to rehabilitate and get fit again after illness or surgery?
- Do you want to prevent or manage a health condition?
- Top up your 11 minutes a day walk recommended to lower the risk of disease?
- Is your aim to improve your cardiovascular fitness, strengthen your bones and muscles or increase your energy levels?
- Do you prefer to walk for about an hour on level ground?
If the answer to any of these question is “Yes” then this is the group for you.

April 2026

The photo shows only half the party- those that ventured the extra mile! And what did we learn as we walked round Long Crendon! It was one of the many villages with a thriving home lace making industry and also a centre for needle making. But most of the population worked on the land. We ended our stroll round the roads and byways at the Stables for a good cup of coffee and, dare I say, it in many case, a nice piece of cake. Thanks to Ro Webb who organises Strollers and Maxine Bennell who led this walk.
March 2026
What an interesting Strollers walk we had in March, supported by lovely spring weather. Thank you to the 20 walkers that joined us, and thank you to Simon for designing the Treasure Hunt.
Our walk on April 14th in Long Crendon and will be led by Maxine Bennell. We shall meet at The Stables Car Park and coffee shop on the Thame Road, Long Crendon, HP18 9FF, at 10am.
From Thame as you approach Long Crendon and go up the hill count 4 speed humps and then promptly turn left, up the slope and into the car park. The last time I went through Long Crendon there were endless road works to contend with.
Our walk will be a leisurely stroll along the High Street and back via Burts Lane (a short incline up to the Chearsley Road). We shall then walk past the recreation field and back to enjoy refeshments at The Stables Coffee shop.
Please let me know if you will be coming on the walk. Also bring your ICE cards or emergency contact details.
Our walk in May will be from Kingston Blount to Aston Rowant and return and will be led by Janet Atkins.
Hoping for good spring weather on 14th April.

NOVEMBER
In November the Strollers did a circular walk in Prince’s Risborough setting off from the main car park. We ended walking through the lovely church yard and round to the Crewe cafe where we had coffee, tea, cakes and more importantly a good chat.

OCTOBER
Jan Atkins very ably led the walk in October taking the group through Kingston Blount, pointing out important areas of days gone by. The group then had coffee at the Cherry Tree Cafe. We seem to be drinking much coffee but it is an important part of the social side of the group and enjoyed by all!
SEPTEMBER
We had another stroll through Chinnor in September taking in the community orchard and the gardens of the houses nearby followed by a visit to the Village Centre.
AUGUST
August’s walk to Cookham was cancelled because of the very hot weather.
JULY
The group travelled to Watlington in July and walked to St Leonard’s Church where we were given a talk about the history of the building and were provided with tea and coffee.
JUNE
After several years of organising varied walks Maxine has handed over to Sue and Ro.
In June two new group leaders, Sue Speight and Rosemary Webb took over the task of running the Strollers Walking Group. Since then there have been a variety of walks. On 2nd Tuesday of June, amidst heavy skies, 15 Strollers met at Chinnor Village Centre at 10am. The walkers set off slowly down the High Street and turned into Benton Drive. They proceeded through the yellow gate into the playing field. On the concrete path they walked one circuit and left through the same yellow gate into Benton Drive and the High Street. A slow stroll up the gentle slope and back to the Village Centre for a well deserved cup of tea/coffee.
This stroll was just over 1.5 miles
Strollers Walk in Thame on Tuesday 8 April
Maxine Bennell, the Strollers Walks Co-ordinator, led 15 members on a short walk round Thame past the Church and down to the old road bridge over the Thame. We saw our first Swallow of the Spring flying over a field by the river and a Nuthatch was calling loudly from a nearby tree. We returned to the High Street through the Churchyard to call in at a local café. As most of you know it is a custom to end most of these short walks in this way!

The routes are generally flat and paved, no stiles and about one and a half miles long. So far this year we have been to Watlington and Princes Risborough.
The ‘Strollers’ could be ‘just your cup of tea’ - walking with others with similar goals.
Please contact Karin on the link below for further information and/or to register for each walk. Do let me know if you need a lift or can offer one as car sharing is recommended. Please let me know if you are intending to join us.
