Computer Group - Possible topics

You will note that the list has two sections, A and B.

Section A is aimed at providing Basic Skills for Novices and Improvers if we decide to do it again.

Section B is a list of other possible Computer Group meeting topics that might interest our more experienced members.

Options for Computer Group meetings through Spring 2026

A. Basic skills for Novices and Improvers- Possible topics for next sessions

  1. Setting up a device (Android/ iPad phone or tablet)
  2. Housekeeping good practice
  3. Operating System updates and upgrades
  4. Searching with browsers (e.g. Chrome/ Edge/ Safari etc.)
  5. Backups, including using One Drive

TUTORIALS or WORKSHOP FORMAT? - LOGISTICS (Location, facilities) - TIMING (date, duration)


B. List of other possible Computer Group meeting topics for 2026

  1. Video Conferencing
  2. Latest developments in AI and their impact
  3. Google Security checks
  4. Safe disposal of redundant devices
  5. Online Security (Authentication & 2FA, PINS, passwords, firewalls etc.)
  6. Integration, synchronization and sharing between devices (e.g. MS Phone Link, Casting)
  7. Sustainable living (monitoring domestic energy usage- John Perkin)
  8. Voice Recognition software and devices
  9. Smartphones Rule OK- the Magic Box in your hand
