Here you will find a list of Outings planned for 2026. If there is somewhere you would like to go that doesn't appear on this list, please contact Paul de Jongh with our suggestion.
Outings Report July 2026
The next outing is a Boat Trip on the Thames. We had originally budgeted for 40 passengers but now have 56! This gives a surplus of £448 of which £150 goes to Salters (as we have to pay extra for more than 50 passengers) and leaves a balance of £298. Proposal – we use this (£5.30 per head) to provide a welcome soft drink – especially as the weather has been so hot.
The outing in August is to Burghley House. Initial expressions of interest implied 60 people would attend (depending on diary dates etc) so, assuming some people would not be able to make it, we set the break-even point at 45 attendees. So far only 32 people have signed up for the trip. QUESTION – did any committee members not receive the flyer by email. Whilst Andrea did, I did not (and we have different email addresses). John Styles is investigating this. We will probably re-send the application to elicit some more responses (with the obvious caveat “if you have already applied, do not apply again”).
September sees us going to the Portsmouth Dockyard. We tried this earlier in the year but as the invite came out very late, we were not successful. We will launch this at the next Speakers’ Meeting which should give members 2 months notice.
