26 of us enjoyed a very good walking holiday in Isle of Wight from 21- 25 October. We stayed at the HF Hotel overlooking Freshwater Bay to the front and Tennison Down to the rear. For those of you not in the know, HF is what was known as Holiday Fellowship and is renowned for its walking holidays. The weather was very unsettled and windy but most of the rain fell at night and some of us hardly got a drop of rain on our 3 walks. As usual we chose an HF guided walking holiday. We were offered a choice of three walks each day โ 6-8 m, 8-10m, or 10 -12miles. The holiday was again superbly organised by Peter Lambert. HF provided 4 very good walks leaders, all of whom were volunteers, two of whom had led us on previous holidays. We visited Carisbrook Castle, Steep Hill Cove and Ventnor, Fort Victoria, Yarmouth and the River Yar and its reedbeds to name just a few places.

Some of us took time out to visit Queen Victoriaโs old residence, Osbourne House in East Cowes, and one visited the Botanic Gardens in Ventnor and took some very good photos of a red squirrel which seemed to pose for the camera.
Having organised 4 walking holidays, Peter Lambert is now stepping back and hopes to be handing over the reins to a small group of walkers to organise next yearโs holiday.โ
Here are a few of the photos that were taken over the five days.
