If you think you have received a spam mailing, the following steps will help to secure your email account.
- Erase the email twice from your inbox and again your deleted box.
- Change your email account password
- Check that your virus checker is on, that it is active and in-date
- Once you have changed your password you may wish to contact your email contacts
- notifying them of this email
- advising them not to click on a box from an email that they are not sure of its purpose or relevance;
- to always be careful to check when they receive an email asking them to connect or click onto something,
- make sure first that it is something they were expecting or
- that there is nothing unusual about the request before complying.
