This friendly group brings together like-minded people who enjoy writing and sharing short stories. We meet in the Therapy Room at the Village Centre to read aloud stories of around 200–600 words that members have written at home.
The aim is to provide a relaxed and supportive space where you can be creative, share ideas, and enjoy writing for fun. After each story is read, the group may have a short discussion about the piece and what inspired it.
Writing can be experimental, factual, or fictional, and may be typed or handwritten. Members are also welcome to include illustrations or photographs if they wish.
At the end of each meeting, the group selects up to three themes for the next session. Previous themes have included topics such as A Song That Resonates, World Affairs, My Favourite Food, The Future, A Walk in the Park, Spring, Cooking, A Journey, Fashion, Children, Music, Sport, and Any Living Creature.
For those who would like to stay a little longer, the meeting may finish with a snack together in the Community Centre café.
New members are always welcome.
